Catching up

We’ve been so bad at blogging since we both have Facebook and iPhones. It’s so easy to just take a picture and post it while you’re actually doing something fun. So if you’re really interested in what we’re doing, sign up.

I thought I would just do a quick catch up with what we’ve been up to the last 6 months travel wise. We’ve had several trips into Bangkok to get some much needed  city. We always stay at the Intercontinental as it’s a beautiful hotel and the location is terrific. We have our favourite restaurants and are always looking for new ones. Food is so limited where we live and we cook at home when Grant is working for the most part. The term “foodies” is us – A foodie is a person who has an ardent or refined interest in food and alcoholic beverages.[1] A foodie seeks new food experiences as a hobby rather than simply eating out of convenience or hunger. I like that – it’s our hobby!

We’ve done trips to Phuket (stayed at the Amari) and Koh Samui (stayed at the Hansar). Both a nice get-away for a few days that we can drive to in under 5 hours. Both beach resort towns with beautiful beaches, restaurants and bars and lots of tourists.

In May we left Thailand for a 2 month trip. We spent a month in West Palm Beach, 2 weeks in Vancouver and a week in Cincinnati. It was nice to get home and visit with family and friends.

The real highlight for us tho was a week in China on the way back home. The great wall of China was high on our list and it was spectacular. Beijing was blue sky while we were there and we really enjoyed the city. In fact we both enjoyed it way more than we thought we would. We had a fantastic guide, Lucy, that took us to Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven and of course the Wall.

We also took the high speed train to Xi’an to see the Terracotta Army. Xi’an was super smoggy and we didn’t like it much but the Terracotta Warriors were pretty amazing. Another one off the list.

Next week we’re off to Vietnam for a couple of weeks. We haven’t been since 2010 and we are really looking forward to Ho Chi Minh and the food. Til then.
