Dinner at Ristorantino da Spano

Tonight we had the most wonderful dinner at our favourite Palermo restaurant, Ristorantino da Spano, just down the street from our apartment. We had dinner here the other night and it was just great, we wanted to be sure to spend one more evening here before we left this week. While we anticipated this all day, we were not disappointed. We were cheerfully greeted by the owners Sergio and Angela and promptly ordered a bottle of red of course. Our first course, was a delightful plate of octopus and prawn marinated in olive oil and lemon. Just wonderful. Followed by a fantastic fresh oyster with lemon. Then came their famous sardine meatball in an amazing tomato puree with olive oil. Then came the calamari. These baby squids are lightly breaded in fine bread crumbs and then quickly fried. Beautiful. Next came the main event. Two wonderful spirals of spaghetti. One bathed in black squid ink and one in seafood tomato sauce. What can we say. It was absolutely amazing. This was all finished off with a decadent pastry filled with ricotta cheese and wonderful Marsala. As our 3 week visit to Sicily draws to an end this week, we could not ask for a better ending to an amazing trip. Thank you Sergio and Angela and the friends we have made while in Sicily as we have thoroughly enjoyed this trip and count it as one of our favourites.
