Willemsoord

Willemsoord was formerly the shipping and building repair yard for the Royal Navy. It dates back to the early 1800″s. It was completely restored in the period 1995-2004, and the docks have the status of national monument.

Pinas Samuel from approximately 1620 and approximately in 1650, sank east of Urk. Found in 1947 and excavated in the 60’s.

It was pretty neat walking around here today by myself without hardly a person in sight. It was really cold and so windy that I had to have my hood on to keep my tam from blowing off!
