Sunday was another fantastic day. We left Aix and headed up the same way as yesterday. Not too far out we drove by and did a u-turn when we saw Chateau Seuil winery. We had tried their wine at Le Patio restaurant and loved it. Of course only in France do the wineries open at 9 am on Sunday’s for tasting.

The family house and some vineyards
After a tasting of their rose and red and a small purchase we drove through a few villages. Parking is almost impossible most of the time. We got to Lourmarin for a walk and a little lunch.
From here we went to visit some friends from Vancouver that are here for a year or 2 with their 2 beautiful daughters. It was such a pleasure to actually see one of these magnificent chateaus on the inside. The original part of the house was built in the 1100’s. It was also so interesting to hear their stories about living here.
They had to come and find us since our GPS didn’t quite do the job. Here is the driveway into their place.
Here is their wine cave. They have their own vineyard and make wine each year. They’re picking a couple of wines for the afternoon for us to try.
This was a real treat – this 1995 vintage was made in honour of our friend Glenn for his 50th birthday. He comes to the chateau each year to help make the wine. We had our doubts about it but were very pleasantly surprised that it was quite yummy and we drank the whole bottle. We also tried a 2006 and 2007. All really good.
Dominica and I. We set up the table to sit outside and suddenly weather blew in from nowhere so we moved inside.
We hated to leave and this afternoon was a highlight of our trip. Thanks to Dominica, Alistair, Ailish (who took the photo) and Isabella.
